Perfect service and fantastically delicious food! I love the corned beef, biscuits and gravy and the Monte Cristo sandwich. My fiancé and I really enjoyed looking at all the antiques and fun signs while we waited. Great atmosphere!

It was Sunday so we expected to have to wait but were seated in 5 minutes. Service was a little slow due to the full restaurant but not to the point where it was aggravating. The wait staff were cheerful and brought the food promptly when it was ready. The food was quite good and in such generous portions that we all brought home leftovers, enough for another meal. Our grandson had the Mississippi Mud Pie for dessert and loved it.

Visit here was great! Our server was very sweet and understanding. All of the dishes there have tasted very good and top quality. This place reminds me of a grandma’s cooking restaurant and the food fits that description well. I would definitely recommend!
It is nice for having a nice brunch with my mother, or a family dinner that’s close in town in Placerville that we can get to quickly.

This is a gem of a restaurant for great food, good service, and interesting old time ambiance. Their tea pot collection, on display throughout the restaurant, is delightful and astonishing. Christmas was expressed by their equally fabulous collection of Santa dolls. The food is home cooked and excellent wether you’re having breakfast, lunch or dinner. The selections are many and varied… enough to please everyone. I had the Popeye wrap…spinach wrap with egg, bacon, cheese and red country potatoes with onion and peppers. Tasty and filling. I took half home. Try the place, I’m sure you’ll love it as well. We stop there every time we go to the mountains. Easy on and off 50 at 49.

I always buy at least one pie when I visit my family. One of the few places you can find Strawberry Rhubarb pie. I spoil my family with the best brownies for the money. Their restaurant has a great menu to choose American favorites from past and present. The staff is always cheerful and provide excellent service.

Such a nostalgic experience. My friend and I were charmed by all the vintage pieces and the country decor. Most memorable was a collection of mid-century vending machines in the vestibule…straight from my childhood. And the dining was as enjoyable…large portions, well prepared and courteously served…good value too. I shall return!

This place was super bomb was totally worth the 25 minute wait which they handled awesome. Food was good and fresh. Came out hot and our server was nice. Environment was cool totally our vibe. My son got pancakes and I got the biscuits and sausage with gravy and potatoes. The real winner was the mile high cinnamon rolls. Bomb.com will def be going back

First, let me just say how unbelievably clean this place is! Second, the service is friendly and quick. Last, my food was amazing! My boyfriend got a corned beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and a side salad, which he enjoyed every bite of. I ordered the Cali Benedict with a cup of chili on the side and was very happy with both items. The cherry strudel was also AMAZING!! Love this place and definitely plan to return.

Had the liver and onion dinner today. This is the best fried liver and onion that I’ve had eating out. The liver was fried with bacon, a nice amount of onions, and it had a great crust. Perfect!
It also comes with a salad, and bread.
If you like liver and onions, try theirs.
The service was good today too.

This place was cute, charming, clean and friendly! My food was beyond any expectations I had. I got the Irish Benedict which mere words can’t describe how truly delicious it was! I will definitely be back the next time I’m passing through!

Looking for a family friendly place for an easy dinner, something better than Denny’s but not over priced. This fit perfectly.
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service!
Overall, glad we came and gave them a try!

Always a good experience. Hospitality is hard to get these days. Food is pretty good. Parking is tight. Overall one of my go-to places for breakfast.

The entrees are great but my favorite thing to order from the menu is pie! Came all the way from Auburn to get chocolate cream pie. I wasn’t disappointed! It was too big to finish in one attempt so I took the rest with me.

Is there anything bad about this place?! I don’t think so! Breakfast served til 4p, and they do it ALL so well! Biscuits and gravy platter with two eggs any style is a family favorite, as are most of their omelettes and waffle meals.
Have tried a few of their sandwiches (chicken avocado cheddar and bacon) too, and all have been solid. The staff is always helpful and friendly and available.
Pies (to go) can be hit or miss though. Apple was great, and I know they say homemade, but the blackberry tasted overly jellified/ gelatinous the last time we tried one. Oh well, we will stick to everything else!

Hungry? You must stop. Made another choice of a non-large chain establishment. It does NOT disappoint. Ordered a soup which provided bread, too. All the bread choices served were excellent. Took home brownies which did not disappoint either.

Front service staff was fantastic, so was the person who brought our drinks. Our waitress looked over worked, and was not friendly. The food was cold and not very good. It was so unfortunate, because some of the staff is really amazing! But when the food is poor, it doesn’t make me want to rush back.

This was my first visit to the Buttercup Pantry. It’s a pretty little restaurant with hometown ambience. The building is adorned with lots of interesting antique artifacts. The service was great. The prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly. I had the Grilled Salmon, and it was delicious.

Stellar food, from salad to chicken fingers to fries to a sandwich on rye, they have it all and it’s good. Don’t forget the bakery, and save room for a slice of their delightful mud pie.

Charming, eclectic decor and an expansive menu that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day make this place a solid stop in Placerville if you are craving classic diner food. The food itself wasn’t outstanding, but capably made and comes out of the kitchen fairly quickly. Their biscuits are soft and fluffy, the sourdough toast thick and crunchy, and the waffle amply covered in strawberries and whipped cream. Portions are quite large, so it was nice to see half portions available on the back of the menu. A decent experience overall.

Really an awesome place. Clearly work lots of history. You will be transported 100 years in the past with all the artifacts lining the walls. Did is really delicious and staff really friendly. We have just found ourselves a new favorite place between the Bay Area and South Lake Tahoe

So glad we found this gem!! A very extensive menu with something for everyone. Staff were extra friendly. Facility clean. Food fabulous. Perfect casual breakfast or lunch spot for our visit to Placerville. Will definitely visit when in town again! At our table the pancakes were a huge fluffy hit with my parents. Husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak and I my pattie melt with their delish sweet potato criscut fries. Yummmm. We also enjoyed a couple cinnamon rolls and a vanilla shake.

Husband, daughter, and I went here for dinner about a week ago. I am absolutely blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The Buffalo wings were cooked to perfection, crispy, and they put the Buffalo sauce on the side so we could choose how much sauce we wanted. That was the appetizer only. The rest of the food was far beyond my expectations. Not to mention the service was great. We will be back.

After spending a weekend at Lake Tahoe, we stopped at Buttercup for lunch on the way home. This was our first visit to Buttercup and we enjoyed it. The place was busy but the wait was just about a whopping 5 minutes! We ordered the hot corned beef sandwich, the Monte Cristo sandwich, club sandwich, and French toast. The corned beef was amazingly tender, but a little underseasoned. That was easily remedied with a bit of mustard. I’d order it again in a heartbeat. The Monte Cristo was delicious, perfectly crispy outside and soft inside. All that goodness with a bit of raspberry/habanero jam…delish! My daughter and son in law enjoyed their club sandwich and french toast as well. The staff was super friendly and efficient, not overly attentive, and our glasses were never empty. We’ll be back!

We love this place and have become regulars since visiting Placerville. The service is phenominal, friendly, down home. The eggs extravaganza is the bomb and so are these cinnamon rolls …

The Buttercup Pantry restaurant is a very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy . The people who work there were busy but still took the extra time to make you feel welcomed.

Cute name and exterior nested in a gorgeous location which in also convenient as a road stop for lunch. The interior was quite cheesy. I had the avocado melt. I had to scrape off the thousand island sauce and white mushrooms (yuck). Other than that, It was a fine distinctive lunch to remember my long awaited first meal in Placerville. Kylie was an absolutely wonderful waitress, but the pay system made it impossible for me to tip her; she really deserved a good; still even though I was on my way home from an overspent trip. THANK YOU KYLIE! Overall, yes this place is truly good enough for me to remember the time I finally got off highway 50 in Placerville by.😊❄☁
